Universal Genève has always been one of our favorite brands in the HODINKEE Shop. The company produced many styles of watches over the years, from wonderfully simple dress watches to rugged tool watches and everything in between. What keeps Universal Genève watches interesting is the large number of known case and dial configurations.

Case in point: take a look at this special dial dress watch. The design is overall simple and elegant, fitted in a sleek stainless steel case with a manually wound movement inside. The main draw, without a doubt, are the numerals, painted with what appears to be in Chinese/Japanese seal script, an older style script which we don't see too often.

This version has the chunky "U" logo at 12 o'clock. Completing the watch is a simple, black leather strap signed by Universal Genève and presumed to be original as well as the chunky "U" logoed stainless steel tang buckle.

This Universal Genève is in overall excellent condition. The case is strong with scratches. The edges on the lugs are crisp. The caseback has a few scratches that appear to be from the case being opened. The numbers on the caseback are still clearly visible.

The dial is in great condition with a very light patina. The white is nearly an eggshell color. The edge of the dial shows some wear and patina. The dial has a light drag line from the minutes hand in a circular fashion around the dial. 

The dial, case, crown, movement, strap, and buckle are all signed by Universal Genève. This watch was photographed on a 175mm/6.9inch wrist.
